“There are two kinds of people in this world: Those who believe there are two kinds of people in this world and those who are smart enough to know better.” ― Tom Robbins.
The world thinks in binary.
Hero or villain.
Black or white.
God or devil.
Happy or sad.
Good or bad.
Right or wrong.
Legal or illegal.
Yes or no.
Binary thinking is easy, effortless and makes decision making easier.
The reality is continuum.
There is a villain inside a hero. Hero inside a villain.
Thinking in the continuum needs an understanding of different layers, underlying dynamics, undercurrents and fifty shades of grey between the black and white. That requires efforts to understand. It needs empathy. A harder job than binary thinking.
Binary thinking helps to write code.
Continuum thinking helps to enjoy poetry.
